I first became enarmored of the One Roll Engine after a friend purchased me REIGN as a present. Since then, the ORE has been my standard system for role-playing games. I am very picky and admittedly hard to please when it comes to RPG game mechanics. More often than not, I find myself let down by a game system and that can often ruin the entire experience for me. This really does put me off otherwise fantastic games. Examples for me are UNHALLOWED METROPOLIS (a really great background but a system I really don't like) and FADING SUNS (a game I dearly love but I really, truly cannot stand the game mechanics). But a bad mechanic has never stopped me from doing what comes naturally: fix it! Now I have the ORE, I have found the ruleset I need to run the games I want to, the way I want to. I have created the ORE Toolkit as a collection of optional rules and core rule mechanics for use in converting other games. You can download it below as a free PDF!
